…WINTER STORM SYSTEM BEGINNING TO IMPACT THE CEDAR RAPIDS AREA TODAY THROUGH
SATURDAY NIGHT…

THE WINTER STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING INTERMITTENT LIGHT SNOW AND A
WINTRY MIX INTO THE AREA FROM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY.
SNOWFALL TOTALS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM 1 TO 3 INCHES ALONG
AND SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 80…TO 3 TO 5 INCHES TO THE NORTH.
STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS AND BITTER COLD TEMPERATURES WILL
OVERSPREAD THE AREA SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT.
THIS WILL CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW ALONG WITH
BITTER COLD WIND CHILLS. DEPENDING ON LATER TRENDS…SOME AREAS
COULD BE UPGRADED TO A WARNING…ESPECIALLY IF CONFIDENCE
INCREASES THAT MORE SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS FROM THE BLOWING SNOW WILL
OCCUR.
